I’m retired and my wife and I moved out of state several years ago to be closer to our grand children. My younger brother passed away suddenly at home in Long Beach, CA and he never married and didn’t have any children. So, wrapping up his affairs (mostly from long distance) were left to me. I called several Long Beach area mortuaries and finally found one that actually had a real person answer the phone. That was McKenzie Mortuary in Long Beach. I was able to actually talk to someone who was knowledgeable and could help me over the phone. They were a real blessing to me during a very stressful time (I was also taking care of my wife who was very ill). If you’re in need of help during one of the most stressful events of your life, I would highly recommend the staff at McKenzie Mortuary. God bless them! 👍🙏

Everyone at this place is very compassionate and communicative. I will be forever grateful that I was not charged a fee to see my relative before the cremation took place. My relative was very presentable for viewing when I did view the body. I would recommend this place for mortuary services.

I was lost in a sudden fog of confusion when my hospitalized husband died unexpectedly. We owned a business in Long Beach, but also live in Santa Barbara. My husband was tending to business in LB when all of a sudden he had an emergent situation. He was admitted to the hospital near our business.I had taken over the running of the business and was running back-and-forth between the business and the hospital each day. I didn’t know the town that well, but my husband had very dear friends living there who stepped in on several occasions to rescue me.We thought he was going to win the battle and we could go back home to Santa Barbara. But it was not in the cards for us. I was completely unprepared in caring for him after his death. Then one of his great friends came to the rescue. She was very familiar with this kind and professional and caring local mortuary and knew I would be in good hands with them. She made a call and they took us right in. I knew right away I could not be in better hands. I was so very fragile and they knew just how to speak to me in all my sorrow and confusion. They immediately set an affordable plan before me and walked me through each step that was ahead of me. They did it with such respect and tenderness that I will never forget. I felt them holding both of us in loving hands. They kept in touch and made sure that all my needs and the needs of my beautiful husband had been met.McKenzie Mortuary is a step above every other mortuary I have ever had to deal with(3 in total). Actually more like two steps. They make sense in a time of great sorrow.I am forever grateful!
