James (Jim) Witte of Signal Hill, CA died Sept. 19, 2026, a few days short of his 89th birthday.

He leaves behind a son, Philip Witte, a daughter Jennifer Pratte, granddaughters Caitlyn Pratte and Cheyenne Garcia, and sisters Beverly Marshall and Kathy Astrup. He was predeceased in 2019 by Ilsa, his wife of 45 years.

He spent his career in sales, primarily in the steel industry and lived all over the country. He was always active, either working on his or friend’s houses, or biking and walking to keep himself fit.

He was very active in his local AA community and always lent a helping hand when needed.
