Larry J. Boisvert of Long Beach, CA who passed away October 15, 2026, after a battle with cancer, and is survived by cousin Di-Anne Graveline of Massachusetts, and many loving family and friends.

Lawrence J. Boisvert was born on May 12, 1946, in Springfield, MA, to Germaine (Boucher) and Marcel Boisvert, and growing up his community included extended family living nearby who often gathered for weekend and holiday meals, and his grandfather taking the children and mothers up to Congamond Lakes for the summers. His early education was taught by nuns, with French in the morning and English in the afternoon. Larry lived the lessons he learned from his Catholic education by caring for his patients as a VA nurse, his interest in the lives of his friends, family, and colleagues, and his generous support for charities, especially those that help children and make lives better. Larry still had a 1961 letter from Danny Thomas thanking him for his generous donation to St. Jude’s, and that commitment continues as he leaves the bulk of his estate to charities: Precious Life Shelter, Make A Wish, American Red Cross, and, of course, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.

On September 12, 1968, Larry was inducted into the U.S. Army at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland. He served stateside as a Personnel Psychology Specialist and received the National Defense Service Medal before his discharge on September 1, 1974. Larry was highly educated, holding a B.S. and M.S. in Nursing, along with CCRN and AACN accreditations. Throughout his distinguished career at the Long Beach Veterans Affairs Medical Center, he worked across General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, SICU, CCU, Emergency Care, Hemodialysis, and Rehab. He served as a Staff Nurse, Assistant Head Nurse, Head Nurse, Assistant Nursing Supervisor, Supervisor, and Evening Tour Coordinator for the entire facility.

Larry was an avid scuba diver and true history buff, and loved to travel and enjoyed visiting many places with good friends – Cuba, Greece, Mexico, Italy, South Africa, China, Vietnam, Panama, New Zealand, Tahiti, Russia, and all over the US. Larry truly enjoyed immersing himself in the culture and history of the many locations he traveled.

Larry will be missed by many family and friends; please join us at his Celebration of Life Monday 11/16/26 4pm-9pm at Frantones Restaurant, to share photos and stories – Larry enjoyed a good laugh.

Please RSVP to lifelong friend, Salinda Haber Ujiie (562)301-2999, for a headcount or more information, and please join me in sharing your own memories of his life.

To honor a lifetime of love and generosity, the friends of Larry request that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the organizations that were close to Larry’s heart by helping make lives better; particularly, Precious LIfe Shelter.
