Wali Hymel Sibrie

     Wali Hymel Sibrie was born to Selma and Arthur Sibrie on June 26, 1976 in Los Angeles, California. His died on January 11, 2026, at his home in Long Beach, California at the age of 49.

     He completed his elementary school education in California after attending school in Trinidad for a couple of terms. He attended Buena Park High School where he played the defensive lineman position on the football team and was a heavyweight wrestler who never failed to bring the community out for a show on wrestling match days. He went on to Arizona State University where he played the defensive lineman position.

     His most notable and most impactful work was at LACADA and DMH helping clients to navigate a life of abstinence from unhealthy substances. He is survived by his cherished daughter Layla, her mother Milya, his well-loved sisters Michelle, Denise and Mandy, his brother Lorne, and his mother.
